Daddy as a tutor -Goal for Reuven A-Z spelling

Today spend some time with Reuven other than my work . In the evening, he take out some cards A to Z along and wanted me to play with him.

i think it is about time for him to start the spelling and writing journey.

i Ask him to pick 4 alphaba out and he said 6 ! hahaha i said ok.

then use different methods and fine tune to make him more focus and encourage him.  where try and error which is his weak and strong side and improve from there.

at first he waz losing focus , and when he get it wrong or don remember , i fine tune abit to what he is more comfortable, when he is losing focus , i got told him about the disney channel that he wanted to watch will be miss and he only have two choices…

when he is down and feel sad or feel he cant do it, i share the story about how he learn to pick up to sing those disney channel songs and how he practise it. from practise , tough become easy. and daddy also learn rubie cube , from tough become easy. all need focus and practise. As long we make an effort. ^^

definitely we need alot of water during this learning. lolx….

in the end, the rewards is he could spell 4 out of 6 within an hour span and award with happy and confident. 🙂

this four of the animal cards will be om the wall of the fame. 🙂

i am really happy for him. Jio yo boy. daddy love u, it is only when u give up then it will be the end, as long we keep trying i am sure we will be there. and daddy will be with you on your learning journey too. 🙂

Exercising with Reuven – Alphabet writing

Few days ago, as he got another new colours pens, he is excited on the new pens and that sparks out the interest to write and draw. we sat down and start to scribble. Since he could spell his name, recognize the letters and always able to sing  the alphabet song,  i feel it will be good to know if he could write A – Z .

He was pretty excited and i draw with some divider, and start to go through with him to write.

those he are able to write, are added with stars and question marks for those currently not able to pen down.

he Score with 16 out of 26.

Encouragement is really important, you can see from my boy clip he was abit sad when he know he got about ten letter that he need improve. when i praise him , from his sad face become confident boy again.

i start to share with him a new phase these past weeks or not to sure when i started, no matter what he doing, like eating meals, playing toys, writing, drawing or whenever he come across any challenge, ‘make an effort’ is the ‘phase’ i use now almost everyday to Reuven and i will add one more line is that ‘Daddy is company or beside you to finish this’.

jia yo my boy! ^.^

practice writing Reuven’s name and number.

just ask randomly to ask reuven to practise his writing. as today while he in sch I did peek into his class before I left. he is writing and participating in a group with teacher on writing number or letters on the while board. I saw him write a number four when teacher ask him to write.  he was so happy to engage and put up his hands to go forward.

then at night I try to write with him. he will start write number 2 from the bottom to top.

then I show him. from top to bottom write a 2. then I ask him which one better. he choose the top to the bottom. however he still write from bottom to top.  I guess he is using this method as drawing technique. then I use five dots and join theme together and guide him through. he is getting better and he start from top to bottom. 🙂

then I know he is a bit bored. I start to ask if he could write his name. he said no..then I spell a REUVEN Loo for him as a guide for him to walk through.

his R initially very special. Haha the ‘tail’ will come out from the top. then the letter V like U. and he said it is the same. then letter ‘N’, he will continue to write without lifting up the pencil. using counting strokes and sounds to make him remember how it is to be written when coming another stroke.

in the end , he really did well with some practice. his first written name spell out today! ^.^ I am happy too that I share and able to guide him through. look at his happy face.haaa wonder if spell his Chinese name will he …. hahaa 🙂

Reuven first written chinese word 呂

Take this chance to write this before reuven wake up. Haha.

Reuven first Chinese word (surname) written by himself with a decent stroke 呂!

today is a lesson for him to understand his name better and how to write.  thank God, After that day bed talk he is getting more and more interested in Chinese.  Although still can’t comment that he is excited , at least he is onto it now. 🙂

With colour pencil on his hand, imagination run wild and he drew on paper.

Reuven: daddy daddy look look I draw a robot!

daddy :just a minute, I am doing some work . I promise I be ready in a min.

Reuven: daddy ..don’t want to see ..(then he sulk face).

daddy: just imagine those video about daddy ignore their children when their children are so excited to show the joy.

I immediately stopped work. I am always constantly reminding myself that he is just happy to share at that moment. if I missed it, the feeling and the excitement will be gone.  I must grab it that moment to show more encouragement.

I take this chance to  interact with him more and take this chance to practise chinese stroke. haha and also explain about his Chinese name and Surname and we go by stage to write it.

he is so happy. ^ .^ seriously I also feel happy too. this is his first Chinese decent writing without any aids. although I admit it is quite easy to write. Haha but it is still a milestone:)

love you my boy. 🙂 jia yo! 🙂

by the way can try those colour pencil that are thicker in diameter and shorter. it is easier for them to grip and hold. I feel my boy improve alot and write it better. 🙂

Learning to draw and Write

Today, Reuven was very excited about the colour pencils that was received yesterday from the birthday celebration.

I took this chance to share with him another lesson. At first i thought of teaching him to write his name , in the end i feel that he should be more comfortable ( as he is very happy when talk about shape)  and able to control his stroke. Then that will help to boost his confidence on writing.

imageFew months back ,i remember i guide him on how to hold the pencil, and today i share with him again, he hold it very well. I started to explain how to draw the triangle with those aided point. Such as demo, hold his hand to draw and keep repeat the steps.

imageLike saiding 1( continue from one point to another) , stop,(lift up the hand) , 2( join another point) stop, 3. ( join another point). He actually repeat what i said.

After a few practise, he manage to draw some decent triangle ! ( in green) . To reward him, i give him a star ! He is overjoyed and keep practising hard! He kept saiding, Daddy, i want stars !:)
